Vintage Katja of Sweden

It is more than 65 years ago since Katja Geiger launched her first collection with her brand Katja of Sweden. This was in New York City on the Fifth Avenue.
Today the designer’s cloths can be found on auctions and better vintage stores. Some of them reach a much higher price than you firstly would expect. You have to dig deeper in Katja’s life to understand why and many of the collectors know this. Katja was brave, modern and comercial. Her vision was not to reach haute couture status but to make beautiful collections with a Scandinavian look, comfortable to use and easy to wash. She created her own New Look. This was for the modern woman and it still is. The dress above was designed in 1971 by Katja of Sweden in cooperation with Hans Krondahl, who designed the print.

My interest in Katja of Sweden started with a passion in art, vintage, retro, design and fashion. Katja of Sweden is part of Swedish fashion history and she was a great designer of international standard. Katja's life was like a saga, hence the name of the blog. Katja was the start of my journey to get inspired by people who stand out and create their own future and business. Good values, hard work and some luck has created good artists that inspire us all.
